This week, the news is all about pets! It is estimated that 40% of UK households have a pet, and 24% of households own a dog, so it should be no surprise that pet franchises are a popular choice of entrepreneurs looking to get into business for themselves. In this week’s Friday Franchising News, pet franchises, and dog-related franchises, are at the forefront showing off how they allow their owners to combine a passion for animals with the fun energy of catering to pet pals. Read on to see what has been going on in the pet franchise industry this week.
OSCAR Pet Foods is ‘Leading the Way’ to a Fantastic Work-Life Balance
Andy and Michelle Corrigan were inspired to own their own Leading the Way franchise, a new sister company of OSCAR Pet Foods, after attending ‘by far the best puppy classes you could ever imagine’. Andy and Michelle were part of the franchise’s successful pilot programme opening their location in Chorley. The team at Leading the Way helped the Corrigans set up everything about their business, from marketing and business tips to first-aid skills and training. The new franchise allowed the couple to work for themselves, at their own pace, and with the flexibility they needed to maintain the perfect work-life balance and spend time with their kids.
Wagging Tails Receives Seal of Approval by Trading Standards
Wagging Tails has received an endorsement by Trading Standards which will allow the franchise to become a member of the ‘Buy with Confidence’ Scheme that endorses local businesses that are honest and fair to customers. Wagging Tails had to pass a series of background checks and formal interviews with Trading Standards representatives. The dog boarding franchise has become the only full franchise network so far with an approved ‘Buy with Confidence’ status. Established in 2007, Wagging Tails was created to fill the gap in the market for reliable and trustworthy dog boarding services. Wagging Tails gives owners peace of mind that their pets are being well looked after by a high quality, ethical, and legal dog care business.
Barking Mad Hosts Second Annual Charity Remembrance Event
Owners of Barking Mad’s Fife and Kinross franchise location, John and Elaine Warburton, hosted their second annual dog remembrance charity event that aims to raise money for charity while also giving local pet parents a way to remember their late pets. This ‘Canine Capers and Cakes’ event was held at Leven Beach. Attendees were encouraged to leave messages for and photographs of their lost family pets at the remembrance tree, which the couple will incorporate into a tree memorial in their garden. There was also a collection for the charity Dogs for Good which pairs support dogs with disabled kids and adults. The Warburtons regularly host events like this that bring their pet community together and raise money for charity. Barking Mad is celebrating Dog Remembrance Month all September long in honor of the beloved family pets that have passed.
