Franchises are giving back in this week’s Friday Franchising News. Owning a franchise can be an incredibly rewarding experience – for you and for your community – thanks to the charitable efforts of the franchise home office. From raising money for hospitals to answering calls on social media, there’s no wrong way to give. Find out how franchises have been giving back this week.
Signs Express Raises over £3.5k for Bournemouth Hospital Charity
The Signs Express Bournemouth franchise recently raised a large donation of over £3.5k for Bournemouth Hospital Charity during their charity event held at South Coast Karting. During the event, 10 teams competed in an endurance karting challenge in a two-hour race time. The winner was Laceys Legends, a team from Laceys Solicitors, who completed 237 laps in the two-hour time period and were the fastest on 156 of the laps. Signs Express scored the overall fastest lap time of 27.9 seconds. South Coast Karting has been using Signs Express since it opened a year ago for its prominent advertising around the track. Signs Express Bournemouth & Poole franchise owner, Richard Morris, saw the excellent potential South Coast Karting had as a location for business networking and charity fundraising events. All proceeds from the event were donated to Bournemouth Hospital Charity.
Husband and Wife Belvoir Franchisees Scoop Two National Charity Awards
Gary and Amanda Pemberton of Belvoir Warrington are celebrating the receipt of two of Belvoir Property Management’s top company awards. This year’s awards, held at the Manchester Hilton, celebrated the company’s highest performing franchisees in a number of categories. The duo were awarded Charity Champions for the third consecutive year, and Gary was awarded the Gold Award for Group Contribution. Belvoir Warrington raised almost £4,000 with an event for the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT), and Gary volunteers his time to work on the Belvoir insurance working group and the research and development group, both of which are vital to helping Belvoir deliver the best service to clients across the network. The Pembertons are very generous with their time, creating a team spirit at the Belvoir Warrington office and helping other local Belvoir franchisees whenever needed, and this generosity is key to their franchising success.
Cash Generator Replaces Local Champion Skater’s Stolen Bike
A Cash Generator second hand retail franchise recently came to the rescue of a local teen who was the victim of theft and vandalism. Fourteen-year-old championship-winning skater Alfie Mills had a bout of bad luck recently when his bicycle was vandalised less than six months after his last bike was stolen. A skater with Enuff Skateboards, Alfie has won numerous skateboarding competitions across the UK. He lives in Poole but attends Bournemouth’s Leaf Academy and has to cycle to Branksome railway station every day to get to school. So Alfie’s dad, Andy, put a plea out on social media telling Alfie’s story and looking for cheap bikes for sale. When staff at the Cash Generator store in Boscombe saw the post, they stepped in and donated one of the store’s second hand bikes to the teenager, along with a new lock to go with it. Alfie was overwhelmed by the store’s generosity, and he and his mum went to the Cash Generator to pick up his new bike.
