The Confederation of British Industry has published a report in conjunction with Siemens with recommendations for employers on how to deal with the large amount of redundancies facing the British workforce.

The report suggests an alternative to redundancy in the format of a stay at home wage which would be double the standard jobseekers allowance and would last approximately 6 months, after which the employee would return to work if their position was still viable or else be offered a redundancy package.

Zenith Optimedia who are regarded as one of the world’s largest advertising agencies, published a report which has found that global advertising is set for a mild recovery in 2010. The report offers hope to the advertising sectors which has suffered losses as a result of an 8.5% fall in advertising expenditure in 2009. The report claims that the fall has stabilised and suggest a recovery in 2010.
