Phil plays a vital role in helping new franchisees begin their journey with NIC Local, providing support from the very first enquiry through to helping them build a strong foundation for success.
His work ensures that every new franchise partner feels fully informed, supported, and confident in taking their first steps toward business ownership.
Starting the day by responding to new opportunities
At first glance, no two days look the same, but there’s a clear thread that runs through everything; helping people take their first confident step into business ownership with NIC Local.
My day typically kicks off with a dive into my inbox. Every morning brings a fresh batch of enquiries – these are people exploring what it might be like to run their own business with NIC Local. I make it a priority to respond personally, whether by email, phone, or video call. It’s important that people feel supported from the first touchpoint.
Accelerating through meetings and Discovery Days
From there, my day accelerates. I might be jumping between Teams meetings with potential franchisees, phone consultations, or preparing for Discovery Days, the in-depth, in-person sessions that give prospects a real look inside the NIC Local franchise model.
Discovery Days are one of my favourite parts of the job. It’s when everything clicks for many people, they see the values, the support and the opportunity all come to life.
Taking it on the road
Occasionally, that personal touch means taking the road, travelling to meet high-potential candidates at their homes for one-on-one discussions.
Some of the most important conversations happen around a kitchen table. That’s where people are most honest about their goals and concerns.
Providing practical financial support for new franchisees
Helping new prospects doesn’t stop with introductions to the business; it includes practical help with finance too.
I work closely with franchise finance experts at major UK banks, guiding candidates to secure the funding they need to get started.
Developing training programmes for franchisee success
Behind the scenes, I play a vital role in developing NIC Local’s franchisee training programmes, working hand-in-hand with the Business Development Managers to ensure new franchisees are set up for long-term success.
Our training is hands-on, real-world, and tailored to the needs of each franchisee. It’s something we’re really proud of.
Working across teams to improve the recruitment journey
Collaboration extends across the wider NIC team. I work closely with the marketing department to continuously improve recruitment materials and streamline the recruitment journey.
We’re always looking at how we present ourselves, from the brochures to the online journey, making sure it reflects the professionalism and care we offer.
Promoting NIC Local at franchise exhibitions
As the face of franchise recruitment, I also organise and lead NIC Local’s presence at national and international franchise exhibitions, engaging with hundreds of prospects, industry experts and partners.
These shows are a great way to raise awareness and bring the NIC Local brand to new audiences.
Sharing success stories to inspire the next generation
I understand the power of a good story, too. That’s why I regularly harvest success stories from across the NIC Local franchise network, sharing wins, milestones and transformations that inspire future franchisees and reinforce the brand’s reputation.
By the end of each day, whether I’ve signed on a promising new partner, or helped someone take their first confident step toward self-employment, I always reflect on the bigger picture: franchise recruitment isn’t just about finding new franchisees, it’s about helping people build their futures.
