Launching a new business is always a leap of faith—full of ambition, hope and the question every entrepreneur asks: Will people connect with what I’m offering?

For Mohammad Afzal, who launched Jam Coding Cardiff in early 2026, the answer came quickly… and loudly.

Instead of waiting for the community to discover his new franchise, Mohammad brought Jam Coding directly to the families it was designed to support. His first big step was exhibiting at the Big Halal Lifestyle Expo Cardiff 2026, attracting more than 5,000 visitors from across the region.

A Stand That Stopped Children in Their Tracks

Amid the noise and movement of the expo, one stand stood out.

Mohammad set up an interactive robotics demonstration—complete with a motorised robot controlled using a micro:bit-powered remote. The moment the robot moved, children stopped mid‑stride. Then they rushed over.

Before long, those same children were dragging their parents back to the stand, eager to show them the robots, talk about coding, and try out the tech for themselves. Jam Coding quickly became one of the most visited and talked‑about attractions of the day.

Parents Looking for Answers

Throughout the event, Mohammad spoke with dozens of parents who all shared the same message: they know digital skills matter, but they don’t always know how to help their children get started.

When they discovered Jam Coding’s fun, supportive and accessible approach, many felt they had finally found the opportunity they’d been searching for. By the end of the day, around 50 families had registered their interest on the spot—with many more taking QR codes to learn more at home.
