Our leader – Ed Reid – moved from being a franchisee to take over as franchisor with his business partner Mags Fuller back in 2017. Ed’s been sat right where you are now and knows the TAB journey personally – he’s committed to helping franchisees by sharing his experience. And Ed's original TAB business is still trading, the franchisee who purchased it has grown the business further too!

As UK franchisor we still run a few territories keeping our finger on the pulse and testing new initiatives, before developing further with the network.

We have been in the UK since 2009, but actually trace our roots back to the USA when in 1990 our founder first developed the business concept to share the power he had experienced of non-exec directors. There are now over 400 TAB franchisees serving over 5,000 business owners each month across 25 countries.

TAB announces Franchisee of the Year 2024

The Alternative Board (TAB) has named Paul Winterbottom its Franchisee of the Year 2024.

The award was announced at TAB’s recent Annual Conference hosted at the Crowne Plaza in Leeds. TAB is the world’s largest franchise system providing peer advisory boards and business coaching for business owners.

The conference brought together TAB franchisees from across the UK to celebrate the franchise’s performance over the past year and provide a platform for learning, network and growth.

Paul was selected as TAB’s Franchise of the Year 2024 having achieved phenomenal success with his Manchester West based franchise, which he launched 10 years ago. This is the fourth time Paul has won the coveted title as he continues to attract new members to his hugely successful franchise.

Ed Reid, TAB UK MD presented Paul with the Franchise of the Year award and said: “It is testament to Paul’s business acumen that he has scooped this accolade for the fourth time, despite fierce competition from his TAB peers. Paul epitomises what makes a great franchisee. His members wax lyrical about the support and results he delivers to their businesses and he is equally committed to championing TAB across the UK. Formerly with NatWest / RBS, Paul spent over 25 years providing commercial advice to SME clients. On exiting banking and seeking a new challenge, he was delighted to find in TAB a franchise where he could use his commercial experience to deliver change to other business owners.

Paul successfully runs three TAB boards across his Manchester based territory working closely alongside over 20 SME business owners comprising a wide spectrum of sectors including professional services, manufacturing, software development, agencies, support services, construction and technology all of whom are benefiting from his facilitation and coaching
