Franchisees have worked both in practice and industry, banking, financial services, corporate and consulting, and some have been former successful business owners too.
Having a financial background is essential – the focus is on advising and supporting clients while your tech and team do the number crunching.
The Market
With the loss of the traditional bank manager and other advisory organisations, there is a gap that TaxAssist franchises are filling, as people seek a local trusted advisor for their business and personal financial affairs.

Alongside these core services, you’ll have multiple additional service lines (Financial Planning by TaxAssist, Tax Consulting by TaxAssist and Payroll by TaxAssist) that you can introduce to clients and then refer to our dedicated teams of specialists at our support office to undertake the service delivery – helping you create multiple revenue streams for your business.
Our technical team operate a helpdesk, as well as delivering regulatory updates for your team, and we provide specialist support and mentoring for you as the owner. You’ll always be able to access the advice you need, whenever you need it.
Your role – and our role
As a TaxAssist franchisee you are in business for yourself, but not by yourself.

Resourcing by TaxAssist: A Scalable Staffing Solution for Growing Accountancy Practices
TaxAssist Accountants has recently launched a new resourcing solution to help its network of over 400 practices manage recruitment challenges and scale their businesses efficiently.

Resourcing by TaxAssist has been specifically designed for TaxAssist practices and integrates fully into their operations, systems and best practices. It provides franchisees with access to experienced accountants and bookkeepers who will work as a seamless extension of the local team.
With a structured yet flexible recruitment model, practices can now hire skilled professionals who are already familiar with TaxAssist’s technology stack and working practices – ensuring consistency, compliance and a strong cultural fit.

Mike Melling, Group Chief Operating Officer at TaxAssist, said: “Recruitment remains one of the biggest challenges for accountancy firms. Resourcing by TaxAssist is a timely and tailored solution that allows our franchisees to access high-quality talent in a scalable, cost-effective way.
“This new offering removes the friction from hiring, supports service delivery and enables practices to focus on growth, client care and strategic development.

“Resourcing by TaxAssist is a major new offering to our network and will offer a multitude of solutions for our franchisees including offshoring, centres of excellence and talent pools. We are excited to be partnering with GI Outsourcing who is an award-winning accounts outsourcing company with over 24 years’ experience.”
Tariq Husain, Chief Executive Officer of GI Outsourcing, said: “We are delighted to partner with TaxAssist to deliver a world-class resourcing solution built around the needs of their franchise network. Our team works closely with each practice to understand their requirements and handpick professionals who are already trained in the TaxAssist way of working.
“The result is a reliable, well-supported and future-ready team that enhances both client experience and operational efficiency.”
As part of the service, the network will also have access to a newly developed Capacity Planner tool, which helps franchisees assess their staffing needs over the next 12 months based on current fee bank, staffing levels and growth plans. This allows for better forecasting and proactive team development.
Early adopters have already seen the benefits. Drazen Coric, owner of TaxAssist Accountants East Finchley, shared his experience: “I was impressed by the professionalism and structured onboarding. My new team member has integrated seamlessly and helped us manage our growth without compromising service quality.”
Franchisees can use Resourcing by TaxAssist to:
- Add capacity for busy periods such as in the run up to the self-assessment tax return deadline
- Backfill critical roles
- Avoid high recruitment costs
- Build a future-proof team without compromising on quality or control
This initiative is part of TaxAssist’s continued investment in developing centralised services to further support its network, following the successful introduction of in-house payroll, tax consultancy and financial planning offerings.
For those looking to build their own accountancy practice, Resourcing by TaxAssist is just one example of how TaxAssist provides its franchisees with the tools, systems and expert support needed to overcome market challenges and scale with confidence. With services designed specifically for independent practices, franchisees benefit from a level of operational infrastructure, strategic insight and brand strength that sets them apart in the local marketplace.
Being part of a franchise network is the best of both worlds... I get to make my own decisions about the business and yet we are part of this massive network made up of the very supportive franchisor, directors and staff, as well as the other franchisees
I am happy to report that I now have over 400 clients, which generate an income and flexibility in how I work that could not have been achieved on the corporate ladder I stepped off. Further, I know that the practice will be a valuable asset for my future when the time is right. The shops, along with my own marketing, and the initiatives of the TaxAssist Support Centre Team, have proved invaluable in helping me to build a substantial practice.
I looked at a variety of businesses within franchising but none of them gave me that spark until I looked at TaxAssist Accountants. I felt I could use my experience gained from working within a professional accountancy practice, and I very much enjoyed the buzz associated with helping small businesses.
