The Financial Info

The Tutor Doctor franchise fee starts at £38,000, but if you have at least £13,500 in available liquid capital Tutor Doctor has a number of financial partners who can help you finance your investment; alternatively, you may qualify for the Government backed Business Start-Up Scheme which allows you to borrow up to £25,000 without investing any money of your own. (This figure doubles if the business has two Directors.)

Driven by purpose: Tutor Doctor welcomes three franchisees committed to changing education

Three experienced professionals have swapped established careers for a new challenge with Tutor Doctor, united by one ambition: to help more young people reach their full potential.

Bringing experience from business, higher education and international teaching, Richard Baglow, Max Maher and Nick Brown have each chosen franchising as a way to make a lasting difference in their local communities. Their appointments reflect a growing trend of purpose-driven professionals turning to Tutor Doctor to build businesses that create meaningful educational impact.

For Richard Baglow, launching Tutor Doctor Bolton West marks a move from a 15-year career in sales and business development towards work with a more personal purpose.

“Every child should have access to the support they need to succeed, regardless of their circumstances. I was lucky to have teachers who majorly inspired me and I want to be able to create that same impact for students in my local community.

“What stood out to me about the franchise opportunity at Tutor Doctor was that tutoring isn’t treated as a transaction,” added Richard. “It’s about understanding each student as an individual, working out what they need and helping them move forward – while having the backing of a franchise model that helps you build something of your own.”

Almost a decade in higher education gave Max Maher a close view of the education landscape. Now he joins Tutor Doctor’s network with a new territory in East Bristol, he wants to support young people who are not getting what they need from mainstream education.

“I’ve seen first-hand how quickly the education landscape is changing in the UK,” said Max. “There are so many students who need something more than what schools are able to offer at the moment – our job is to step in and make that difference.

“If we can give students the tools, encouragement and support to believe in themselves, then we can help the young people of Bristol prosper like never before.”

Nick Brown brings experience from national management roles in banking and transport, alongside a teaching career spanning the globe before launching Tutor Doctor Skipton, Ilkley and Otley.

“Tutor Doctor was the first franchise that ticked all the boxes for me,” said Nick. “I wanted to do something where my intentions and values matched those of the organisation, rather than finding something that was solely driven by commercial goals.
