Aspray Franchisees Shine as Finalists in the 2024 BFA HSBC British Franchise Awards
We are thrilled to announce that two of our outstanding Aspray franchisees, Joe McGuigan and Ben Taylor, have been selected as finalists in the prestigious 2024 BFA HSBC UK British Franchise Awards.
This is a remarkable achievement that showcases the dedication, talent, and entrepreneurial spirit within the Aspray network.
Joe McGuigan: Business Builder Finalist
Joe McGuigan, who leads Aspray (Glasgow North and South), is a finalist in the coveted “Business Builder” category. Since acquiring his franchise in 2013, Joe has been dedicated to helping property owners navigate insurance claims with care and professionalism. His success is built on his unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional service to his clients. Over the last decade, Joe has become a leading franchisee, driving his business to new heights and earning respect within the Aspray network.
In addition to his business achievements, Joe is also known for his philanthropic efforts. Recently, he completed an eight-day charity cycle from Vietnam to Cambodia, raising £16,000 for Marie Curie. Reflecting on his nomination, Joe shared: “It is good to be recognised and put forward as a finalist for the effort my whole team has put in. Since joining the company in 2013, I have been committed to delivering exceptional service and support to our clients, and this nomination inspires me to continue striving for excellence.”
Ben Taylor: Next Generation Franchisee Finalist
At just 29 years old, Ben Taylor, the director of Aspray (Manchester Central), has achieved incredible success and is a finalist in the “Next Generation Franchisee” category. Ben's entrepreneurial journey took flight during the pandemic, when he pivoted from a career in recruitment to take the reins of his Aspray franchise. His dedication to excellence, alongside his close-knit family team, has earned him this well-deserved recognition.
Ben’s proactive nature was also demonstrated during the pandemic when he established a PPE production line, supplying local hospitals with essential equipment. Commenting on the honour, Ben said: “I’m incredibly honoured to be nominated as a finalist at the British Franchise Awards. This recognition validates the commitment and dedication I have given to provide an unwaveringly high level of service to our clients. Being under 30, this award also highlights the potential for success for young individuals, including those like me who have made a complete career change.”
Celebrating Excellence in Franchising at the 2024 BFA HSBC British Franchise Awards
Pip Wilkins, Chief Executive of the BFA, expressed her admiration for this year’s finalists: “We are delighted to be celebrating our 35th year of the BFA awards this year, and as always, another exceptionally difficult round of shortlisting. We never cease to be amazed by our entrants' ingenuity and tenacity. Their ability to adapt to changing marketplaces and amend their business model ensures they are always offering the best opportunity to their franchisees and customers. I’d like to offer my congratulations to everyone who made the finals; this is in itself a huge achievement and one they should be extremely proud of.”
Gillian Morris, UK Head of Franchise at HSBC UK, added: “My heartfelt congratulations to the deserving finalists in this year’s British Franchise Awards. Shortlisting the entries and choosing the finalists is one of the toughest challenges of my year, but it’s one I love. I was truly inspired by the brilliant businesses amongst this year’s entrants, and the finalists really do represent the best of British franchising.”
The winners will be announced at a black-tie gala following the BFA’s annual conference on 7th November 2024. We are incredibly proud of both Joe and Ben for their remarkable achievements and wish them the best of luck in the upcoming awards ceremony.
About the BFA
The British Franchise Association (BFA) is the voluntary, self-regulating governing body for franchising in the UK. Formed in 1977, the BFA upholds strict ethical and business standards, ensuring that franchise opportunities in the UK are conducted professionally and ethically. The association’s annual awards celebrate the very best of franchising, and being named a finalist is a significant achievement in itself.
At Aspray, we are proud to see our franchisees recognised on such a prestigious platform, reflecting the hard work and dedication that makes our network so special.
