As a TaxAssist Accountants franchisee, you can run a thriving accountancy and advisory business, enjoy a growing income from your efforts, and build a valuable asset to sell when the time is right.
You will be able to deliver a suite of accounting, tax, financial and advisory services to local business owners, contractors, freelancers, and their families from your welcoming high street premises.

Franchisees have worked both in practice and industry, banking, financial services, corporate and consulting, and some have been former successful business owners too.
Having a financial background is essential – the focus is on advising and supporting clients while your tech and team do the number crunching.
The Market
With the loss of the traditional bank manager and other advisory organisations, there is a gap that TaxAssist franchises are filling, as people seek a local trusted advisor for their business and personal financial affairs.
Demand is constant, with evolving tech automating many of the basic services. Franchisees and their teams harness this to deliver a suite of accounting, tax and advisory work, with a relationship-led approach.

Alongside these core services, you’ll have multiple additional service lines (Financial Planning by TaxAssist, Tax Consulting by TaxAssist and Payroll by TaxAssist) that you can introduce to clients and then refer to our dedicated teams of specialists at our support office to undertake the service delivery – helping you create multiple revenue streams for your business.
Our technical team operate a helpdesk, as well as delivering regulatory updates for your team, and we provide specialist support and mentoring for you as the owner. You’ll always be able to access the advice you need, whenever you need it.
Your role – and our role
As a TaxAssist franchisee you are in business for yourself, but not by yourself.
The goal is for you to work on the business rather than in it. That way, you’re growing an asset as well as your income.
You’ll spend your time growing your business attracting new clients and leading your team of loyal staff. We’ll guide you every step of the way to maximise both your income and asset value, all you need to do is follow the proven model – just like hundreds of people have before you.

11 TaxAssist Staff graduate from LEAD Management Programme
TaxAssist Accountants is celebrating the success of senior practice staff and Support Centre staff who have recently graduated from its bespoke Training Academy LEAD course.

Managing a practice involves far more than overseeing processes - it requires strong leadership, effective team management, and the ability to build meaningful client relationships. The two-year LEAD Programme has been specifically designed to equip senior practice staff and franchisees with the skills needed to lead high-performing teams.
Feedback from the 2023 – 2025 cohort has been overwhelmingly positive. Participants praised the course for its transformative impact on their leadership skills and confidence:
- Emily Bontoft – TaxAssist Accountants Beverley - “Taking part in the leadership and management course was truly transformative. Every session challenged me to think differently, lead with purpose, and grow not just professionally, but personally.”
- Kristen Bradshaw – TaxAssist Accountants Lincoln - “I can confidently say the TaxAssist Accountants' Leadership and Management course exceeded my expectations. The training was not only insightful and well-structured, but also genuinely valuable in helping me develop both personally and professionally. It provided practical tools and guidance that I apply daily in my role. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to take part and would highly recommend it to anyone who is in a management position or working towards one."
- James Cavendish – TaxAssist Accountants Banbury - “The leadership management course helped to build my confidence and skillset to be able to deal with managing staff and clients. The delivery of the course and the people involved were excellent. They created a no pressure environment that allowed me to develop my professional and personal skills.”
This is the third group of staff and franchisees to complete the LEAD programme, following its successful launch in 2017.
Samantha Skyring, Head of Group Learning and Development at TaxAssist Accountants, commented: “We pride ourselves on the quality of training and support we offer our network. While we focus on getting franchisees off to a strong start, we also recognise that as businesses mature, franchisees must shift their focus to managing staff, planning for succession, and building long-term strategies - which is exactly why we created the LEAD course.
“Delivered in partnership with First Intuition, this programme has benefited immensely from the world-class dedication of trainers Ben Bullman and Crystal Haygreen. Their commitment to excellence has been instrumental in its success.
“Each delegate’s final presentation was nothing short of inspiring, demonstrating not only their newly acquired skills but also their confidence, creativity, and commitment to leading with impact. Due to the popularity and success of the course, we are already planning our next programme, which is attracting strong interest.”
TaxAssist Accountants is the UK’s leading network of tax and accountancy specialists, supporting small and medium sized businesses and self-employed professionals. Through its Training Academy, TaxAssist provides comprehensive, ongoing support to its franchise network, helping staff and franchisees develop leadership, technical, and business skills.
To learn more about The TaxAssist Training Academy, our business model, the support that we provide and of course to meet with us, we run regular franchise Discovery Days at our Support Centre in Norwich.
Being part of a franchise network is the best of both worlds... I get to make my own decisions about the business and yet we are part of this massive network made up of the very supportive franchisor, directors and staff, as well as the other franchisees
I am happy to report that I now have over 400 clients, which generate an income and flexibility in how I work that could not have been achieved on the corporate ladder I stepped off. Further, I know that the practice will be a valuable asset for my future when the time is right. The shops, along with my own marketing, and the initiatives of the TaxAssist Support Centre Team, have proved invaluable in helping me to build a substantial practice.
