About Jim's Mowing
With over 3,000 franchise owners in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK, and over 10,000 satisfied clients throughout the globe serviced daily, we specialise in providing an all-year garden maintenance service to both domestic and commercial clients.
In the UK we have around 30 franchisees and a population of 65 million – to give you an idea of the growth potential we see here, we have almost 2,000 franchisees in Australia in a population of only 20 million.
There’s no question that this is an incredible time to come on board and secure the territories you want!
So the first thing you should know is that we don’t just mow lawns! Yes, as the name suggests, our principal service is cutting grass, but we can do almost anything our clients require in their garden and grounds and as frequently as they would like it. Here are some of the services our franchisees are regularly asked for:
- Lawn mowing
- All-year-round lawn maintenance, including scarifying and aeration
- Hedge trimming
- General gardening, such as weeding and planting
- Pressure washing
- Artificial turf installation
- Gutter guard installation and maintenance.
A day in the life of a Jim's Mowing franchise owner
As a Jim’s Mowing franchisee, you will spend your days working in the fresh air and working flexible hours delivering these services to clients in your local area. Not a bad way to earn a living is it? Particularly when you consider that all the while you are building a profitable and valuable business and asset for your future.
As demand in your area grows through repeat business, referrals and local marketing, you will have the option to increase your capacity by employing staff and investing in more equipment. Many of our franchisees have already chosen to expand into neighbouring territories and are stepping back from the hands-on gardening to concentrate on managing the business for growth. Equally, others have chosen to limit the number of jobs they do in accordance with the work-life balance they want – it’s their business and we respect their choices. Like we said earlier, there’s really no limit to what you can do in these early stages.
Very few of our franchisees come to us with a high degree of gardening skill. Most are looking for an opportunity to be their own boss, leave their work suits in the wardrobe and consign long arduous commutes to the back of the mind.
The training you receive is outstanding. It’s not all about gardening either, we teach you how to run, market and staff your business. As you’d expect from a franchise business that has gone global, we don’t just take on anyone who fancies a bit of a change and leave them to it – we are investing in you just as you are investing in us. We’re all in this to build successful businesses, and despite how much fun it is, we take it very seriously.
What does it cost?
The franchise fee for a Jim's Mowing franchise is just £15,000 (plus VAT where applicable), which includes £2,500 worth of equipment. After that, you pay a modest and fixed monthly management fee of £314.96 plus VAT; that means the more you work, the more you keep.
In your start-up phase, we offer an income guarantee of £550 per week until you have sufficient clients to generate income in excess of this. Feel free to read that bit again…
You will receive a comprehensive package of equipment, training and marketing before you visit your first customer and as you would expect from a global brand, there is ongoing support for work generation, a central admin centre which distributes new leads generated from national advertising to our franchisees, use of an excellent enquiry management system, bulk buying discounts and much, much more.
The main franchise banks will often lend you between 50% and 70% of the total investment of your garden maintenance business, so make sure you consult with their dedicated franchise teams – Jim’s Mowing will be happy to make an introduction for you if borrowing is required.
We are looking for excellent franchisees across the whole of the UK and Ireland, however we are experiencing a particularly high level of ‘unserviced' leads in the following areas:
South of Glasgow
West of Manchester
There’s lots more we can talk about – please check out the video and case studies at the top of this listing to get a better idea of how our franchisees are getting on.
