Snap Fitness is set to open its 108th UK & Ireland gym in Winton, Bournemouth this December and it will be launched by first-time franchisee, Josh Glover.

Josh is a shining example of turning your passion into a career. Having got into fitness just over seven years ago, he was balancing an active lifestyle with a career in retail that spanned over 20 years.

Alongside a business partner and friend, he took the plunge to become a franchisee last year and earlier this year, walked away from his day job at Co-Op, a brand he’s worked with for over 17 years.

This has meant Josh is now focussing everything on the opening of Snap Fitness Winton and will be operating the gym first-hand as Club Manager when it launches.

As a Bournemouth local, his passion and drive saw the gym break the UK & Ireland record for the most prospective member enquiries, swiftly followed by breaking the day one sales record when memberships went live on Tuesday 18^th November.

Winton is a landmark opening for Snap Fitness and is the first UK & Ireland location with a dedicated Reformer Pilates studio, which has been a huge selling point in the local area. We sat down with Josh to find out more about his journey so far:

What attracted you to become a gym owner and franchise with Snap Fitness?

I’ve been into fitness for about seven years, and it’s completely changed my life. I wanted to create something that genuinely helps people. Snap Fitness just felt like the right fit. It’s modern, friendly, and community driven. So many gyms have lost that family vibe, and that’s something really important to me.

What made the brand stand out to you?

Snap has a great balance. Big enough to offer premium quality, but still personal. They really care about people and their wellness, not just memberships.

Being local to the area, why do you think a new gym is so necessary here?

High streets need investment and I feel we’re doing our part to help revitalise Winton. There are some great new businesses opening, and our gym will add to that by supporting the local community. We’ve also invested in a Reformer Pilates studio, Infrared Sauna and a Treatment Room alongside all the usual gym facilities to create a real destination for everyone.

What’s the initial feedback been from people in the local area?

Honestly, really positive! Everyone’s been so supportive and excited, especially about the Reformer Pilates and 24/7 access. We’ve actually exceeded expectations with the level of interest so far.

Community is a huge part of being a franchise brand, how will you be engaging and giving back to the local area?

We’ll be supporting Leaf Academy and local sports and recreational clubs in the area. In the gym, we’ll be running charity events and volunteering with local groups. I’d love the gym to feel like a real community hub where everyone feels connected.

You’re the first Snap Fitness club to have a dedicated Reformer Pilates studio, how exciting is it to be leading the way with this?

It’s really exciting! Reformer Pilates is growing so fast, and it’s a great opportunity to be the first Snap club to offer it. It adds something totally new especially as you can enjoy taster and beginner classes as part of your membership.

What can potential members expect from you and your team?

A super friendly team, great energy, and no judgement. We just want people to feel comfortable and supported, whatever their goal is. Never be afraid to ask a question - we will always do our best to help you! We just that we can’t wait to open and get everyone in. It’s been a long time coming, and I think people are genuinely really going to love it!
