When your ambition meets outstanding support, success follows. That's what happened for this franchise partner who has expanded into a second territory with Radfield Home Care.
Meet Matthew Nutting, Radfield Home Care franchisee for Harrogate, Wetherby and North Yorkshire, and new owner of the Ilkley, Skipton and Otley territory.
Matthew, and his wife, Natalie, are very well-established in the Radfield Home Care franchise and are considered one of their most successful ownership teams.
Matthew first joined the franchise back in 2018, leaving behind a long career in the NHS culminating in his role as a Clinical Manager - supporting Occupational Therapists in the community. Like so many who benefit from joining a care franchise like this one, he was looking for a new career which could fulfil both his goals of creating a legacy for himself and his family, and doing more to help those most in need in his community.
He looked at a number of franchises during this time but, when he discovered Radfield Home Care, he immediately felt he shared their goals and values.
A business that champions exceptional care
“From the very beginning, I could see that Radfield understood the value of every person in their network – their skills, experience and background – not just the value of their investment, and that extends to how they enable us to provide quality care, too.” Matthew told us when we spoke to him. “It’s about building something which is properly embedded in the local community, and not just a corporate machine churning out care.”

With his second territory now up and running, Matthew is already starting to look at a third sometime in 2025. Matthew also recently won the "Number One Employer" at the "Your Harrogate Radio Local Hero Awards", for which he was nominated by his own team, proving it's not just his franchisor, he knows he can count on, but also everyone working with him.

So, what advice can Matthew offer those just starting out on their care franchise journey?
“Follow the vision and values first, and the money will follow! Set off with the right intentions and focus on the bigger picture, don’t just chase easy contracts and money. Be clear about your mission, look after your staff and service users well, and the rest will fall into place.
“It’s all about family. Treating everyone in your care, or your employ, the way you would want yourself or a loved one to be treated. Even though we are expanding, we will never lose that commitment. We are a local care company staffed by local people. From the community, for the community. That’s exactly what Radfield is all about, too.”
