A rewarding scalable business model for the financially astute
Run your own accounting and advisory business
Now more than ever, you might be thinking about how to make your time and income work harder for your future, so that you’re in control.
As a TaxAssist Accountants franchisee, you can run a thriving accountancy and advisory business, enjoy a growing income from your efforts, and build a valuable asset to sell when the time is right.
You will be able to deliver a suite of accounting, tax, financial and advisory services to local business owners, contractors, freelancers, and their families from your welcoming high street premises.
Franchisees have typically been accountants working both in practice and in industry, as well as in banking, financial, corporate and consulting services. Many also come from a successful business ownership background too.
If you join TaxAssist as a new start franchisee or you are converting your existing practice to TaxAssist Accountants you will need to be a qualified accountant with a practising certificate. TaxAssist can advise you on qualifications and obtaining a practising certificate if this is something you are not familiar with.
If you are purchasing a TaxAssist franchise resale and you are not an accountant with a practising certificate, then having a financial/senior management position within the banking or financial sectors or proven business background is essential. You must attend an initial training course and employ a practice manager who is a qualified accountant to manage the day-to-day operations of the business.

TaxAssist Accountants National Conference 2026 brings network together for a day of inspiration, innovation and growth
Franchisees from across the UK came together at the British Motor Museum in Warwickshire on the 10th July for the TaxAssist Accountants National Conference, enjoying a packed day of learning, networking and business development.
The annual event provided franchisees and their teams with valuable insights, practical strategies and opportunities to connect with colleagues from across the TaxAssist network as well as sponsors and exhibitors.
The conference featured keynote presentations from leading industry experts, including entrepreneur, best-selling author and business adviser James Ashford, who shared his experiences of building and scaling successful businesses within the accounting industry. Delegates also benefited from an expert tax update from Rebecca Benneyworth MBE, one of the UK's most respected tax specialists, and a practical session from technology specialist Dan Tudorana-Clark, the Managing Director of HelloAi, who explored how accountants can successfully apply AI and digital tools to improve efficiency and deliver greater value to clients.
Alongside the keynote presentations, attendees took part in a series of interactive workshops covering topics such as taxation, cloud technology, practice management, recruitment, insolvency awareness, artificial intelligence and growth opportunities through the newly launched TaxAssist Plus. The workshops provided practical takeaways designed to help franchisees enhance business performance and support future growth.
The conference also featured a busy exhibition area where sponsors and exhibitors showcased products and services tailored to the network’s practices. Throughout the day, delegates enjoyed numerous opportunities to network, exchange ideas and strengthen relationships with fellow franchisees and business partners.
The event concluded with exclusive access to the British Motor Museum and an evening drinks reception, providing a relaxed setting for attendees to continue conversations and celebrate the achievements of the network.
James Mattam, Group Director of Franchising, said: "Our National Conference continues to be one of the most important events in the TaxAssist calendar, and this year's event was a tremendous success. The quality of the speakers, workshops and exhibitors provided real value for our franchisees, giving them practical ideas and inspiration to take back to their businesses.
"What was particularly rewarding was seeing so many franchisees and their teams together in one place. The strength of the TaxAssist network has always been built on collaboration, shared experiences and mutual support, and the conference provided a fantastic opportunity for everyone to reconnect, share ideas and celebrate our collective achievements. The positive energy throughout the day was exceptional, and we're excited to see the impact of the insights gained as our franchisees continue to grow and develop their practices."
Enfield based franchisee, Shayo Badejo said, “One of the things I enjoy most about the TaxAssist National Conference isn’t just the presentations. It’s the conversations between them. Listening to how other practices are solving challenges, embracing new technology and finding better ways to support their clients always gives me something to take back to Enfield. There’s always something new to learn in this profession. I’m looking forward to putting some of those ideas into practice.”
Jamie-Leigh Heyda, TaxAssist Barnstaple, commented, “The conference wasn't just about inspirational talks, it was packed with conversations with banks, lenders, software providers, insolvency practitioners and other professionals, all sharing ideas and expertise.”
Haywards Heath based TaxAssist Accountant, Alex Mathew, said, “It was great to hear about the latest AI updates and the delivery pipeline. To hear it covered in such detail is reassuring and I have to say, TaxAssist has absolutely nailed the process with the right tech partners. As a reputable brand, TaxAssist has built valuable partnerships across the compliance, financial, IT and business sectors. As an individual practice, developing these kinds of partnerships independently and cost effectively would be incredibly difficult, if not impossible.
“The conference itself was exceptionally well organised the TaxAssist Accountants team always raises the bar with engaging sessions, insightful workshops and most importantly, plenty of time between sessions to network with fellow franchisees. We have an amazing community of franchisees who are always willing to share knowledge, ideas, experiences and best practices. The value of those conversations is immeasurable.”
Bukky Shonola, TaxAssist Letchworth, Radlett and St Albans, said “The TaxAssist Accountants National Conference remains a key annual event for the network, supporting franchisees with the knowledge, connections and resources they need to build successful and thriving practices.”
Being part of a franchise network is the best of both worlds... I get to make my own decisions about the business and yet we are part of this massive network made up of the very supportive franchisor, directors and staff, as well as the other franchisees
I am happy to report that I now have over 400 clients, which generate an income and flexibility in how I work that could not have been achieved on the corporate ladder I stepped off. Further, I know that the practice will be a valuable asset for my future when the time is right. The shops, along with my own marketing, and the initiatives of the TaxAssist Support Centre Team, have proved invaluable in helping me to build a substantial practice.
