Starting a business from scratch, taking over an existing one, or rebranding your current operation all come with a lot to figure out.
Those first few months can feel full on, with new systems to learn, new responsibilities to take on and the pressure to get things moving.
At Signs Express, those early months are designed to feel different. Rather than leaving new franchisees to figure things out on their own, support is built into every stage of the journey, providing structure, guidance and reassurance from day one.
The process begins before a centre even starts trading. New franchisees take part in a structured onboarding programme, combining classroom learning with hands-on, in-centre experience. The aim is to make sure they understand not just how the business works but how to apply that knowledge in real situations.
There’s also plenty happening behind the scenes. From setting up systems and preparing marketing activity to putting finance, IT and operational processes in place, the focus is on making sure everything is ready to run smoothly from the outset.
As trading begins, support continues in a more hands-on way. During the first few months, new franchisees receive guidance both in-centre and remotely, helping them navigate day-to-day scenarios, from customer conversations and quoting through to managing workflow and operations.
At the same time, marketing activity is already underway. Local social media and wider campaigns help generate enquiries and build visibility in the area, giving new businesses the momentum they need early on.
Behind the scenes, support also covers the day-to-day essentials, including finance, reporting, IT systems and operational processes, allowing owners to focus on building their customer base and growing the business.
By the time a centre reaches the four to six month mark, the focus begins to shift. With systems in place and customer relationships developing, support evolves into ongoing coaching, performance reviews and access to tools that help improve efficiency and decision-making.
