A franchise opportunity as delicious and unique as our ice cream!
The first Udderlicious store opened in Islington and was a huge success, so much so that only 2 years later, Mr & Mrs Kotecha opened a second store in a prime location in Covent Garden. Their third store in Crouch End, the most recent edition to their ice cream empire, opened in 2024. Read more about the beginnings of Udderlicious HERE.
The stores have become real destinations in themselves, not just for their many loyal customers in the local area, but also for people all over the capital and beyond, who want a taste of their now famous ice cream.
Why Choose Udderlicious?
Is there anyone who doesn’t enjoy great ice cream? While Udderlicious is not the only ice cream franchise out there, there’s ice cream, then there’s Udderlicious!
- A Product in Constant Demand - Ice creams are luxury treats and desserts that bring joy whatever the weather. Ice cream like this never goes out of style, especially with the constant addition of exciting new flavour combinations, and the vegan range available.
- A Simple Set-up with Low Overheads - Unlike restaurants, an ice cream parlour doesn’t require expensive premises, a large staff, or complicated kit. You don’t need a big variety of food preparation and storage areas, nor do you need premises zoned for restaurant use. A simple retail unit will do!
- A Little Local Magic - It’s all about being part of the community; creating an exciting customer experience that keeps customers coming back for more. After the ice cream itself, this care for their customers is probably the single biggest factor in their success to date.
Our Ideal Partners
Udderlicious has created an extremely successful brand that you can tap straight into using their franchise model; they now need people with drive, ambition and a passion for ice cream but also people who are numerate and familiar with financial planning. By following the Udderlicious franchise system you really can become the business owners they’ve always dreamed about being.
A business like this requires strong people and communication skills; building a rapport with your customers, not to mention your own team, will be one of the biggest factors in your success.
An understanding of the importance of great customer service is a must; organisational skills, a good sense for business operations, and team leadership will also will put you in good stead.
Initial Training & Ongoing Support
When you join the Udderlicious franchise, you’re not just buying into a great brand and proven business model, you’re also becoming a partner in every sense of the word.
You will benefit from the experience and expertise gained, through the comprehensive training programme, and have everything you need to make the most of this opportunity.
Your journey will start with a 3-week training plan; if you’re not planning to work in the store yourself, you will still need to attend some, if not all, of the training alongside your intended store manager.
The first week of the training is classroom based (2-3 days). You (and your Store Manager, if relevant) will then spend two weeks working in one of the Udderlicious outlets in London, and at Head Office, where you will gain practical experience of how to conduct your day-to-day operations.
Support is always available, whenever you need it, including regular calls and meetings to see how you’re doing, and at least 12 days in your first year where the team will come to visit you in your store.
With the Udderlicious franchise, you may be working for yourself, but you are never by yourself!
Your Investment
The initial fee for becoming partner in the Udderlicious franchise is just £20,000 (+ VAT). We do recommend that you have some working capital available to support yourself and cover your overheads, depending on your personal circumstances, while your new business gets off the ground and reaches its full earning potential.
There will be other costs to consider; leasing and outfitting your new shop, business insurance, hiring and paying staff, etc. These additional costs will vary depending on your location and local costs but, based on our existing stores, we estimate this to be around £182,000 + VAT. A detailed financial breakdown, has been prepared and is available on request.
The initial franchise agreement lasts for five years, and is renewable subject to certain criteria being met by the franchisee and in agreement with the franchisor.
While Udderlicious do not provide financing directly, there are a number of options to help you with your total investment. It should be possible to obtain funding from most major high street banks for up to 70% of your full investment . There are even government funded loans available, subject to status. All options will be discussed during the enquiry process, and Udderlicious are here to help you decide the best course of action.
Ongoing Costs & Earning Potential
As an Udderlicious franchisee, you’ll very much be your own boss and will enjoy all the personal and financial rewards, but there are certain costs involved in maintaining the partnership:
There is an ongoing fee of 4% of your gross turnover. The industry average fee is around 10-12%, so this is a pretty good deal!
However, Udderlicious are a franchise who very much believes in celebrating success, so franchisees who consistently go the extra mile in making their new business succeed, and score well on aspects such as Google review scores, Food Hygiene Ratings and Mystery Shopper Review scores, can expect to enjoy a reduced rate of just 3%!
The earning potential of your franchise can vary a great deal depending on location and local market. However, based on existing operations, Udderlicious is confident that you can reasonably expect to see a return on your investment as early as Year 2.
The combination of the Udderlicious proven business model, and your passion and desire to build your own business, will be a real recipe for success.

Answers to your biggest questions about the Udderlicious franchise
January is probably not everyone’s favourite month, but there’s always plenty to be happy about down at the local Udderlicious!

Regular customers will know there are new flavours and recipes to try out every month, such as the delicious ice cream, and January is no exception. This time, we're excited to feature some udderly-delicious vegan options: Chocolate Banana Bread, Rhubarb & Blueberry Crumble, and Hazelnut Praline!
Udderlicious only launched as a franchise a few months ago but, have been inundated with enquiries from people looking to create their own unique ice cream boutique in their local community.
The Udderlicious franchise profile on this site is a good place to start looking at our information and, plus, you can ask us about anything to do with this opportunity. However, some key questions keep coming up in our conversations, so we’d like to answer a couple of the most frequent ones here for you now:
1) Where’s the best place to open my own Udderlicious?
The Udderlicious franchise is designed to work in any location with decent footfall, and we’re confident it can be a success in any town or city in the UK. However, we’ve identified 10 locations in the capital which we consider to have exceptional potential for a new store:
- Carnaby/Soho
- Camden
- Notting Hill
- Primrose Hill
- Shoreditch
- Marylebone
- South Kensington/Knightsbridge
- Spitalfields
- Belgravia
- West End
So, if you live in or around these areas, or already know of a great location near you, we’d especially like to hear from you. But, even if you want to open a store outside London you should still get in touch!
The Udderlicious team just knows the London locations particularly well, however we’re still keen to hear from anyone anywhere in the UK whose local community is just crying out for some extra, sweet delicious joy in their lives!
2) How much does it cost to set-up my new store?
As you may have read on our profile, the franchise fee for partnering with Udderlicious is £20,000 + VAT, plus an amount of working capital (depending on your personal circumstances) to see you through your start-up phase. You also need to consider the cost of leasing and outfitting your store. The exact costs will obviously vary, depending on your location and local costs, but, based on our existing stores, we estimate this to be around £182,000 + VAT.
I hope that helps!
