This course is designed to look at franchise businesses, how to set them up and all major issues that should be considered. The course is divided into several sessions. Session one will outline the basic ideas behind franchising and provide the framework for the rest of the sessions. Session two will look at what can be franchised through examining various business arrangements that can exist; why franchise a business and why take up a franchise. Session three will focus on how to become a franchisor. The purpose of this session is to introduce the basic elements of becoming a franchisor. In other words, what is needed to turn a business into a successful franchise. Section four will look at how to become a franchisee and the differences and similarities between buying a franchise and an ordinary business. The course will also include a session on trade marks.
