Kumon Franchise

No. 7 of the UK's Top 100

The Kumon Institute of Education was founded in 1958 in Japan by Toru Kumon, both a parent and gifted maths teacher. He created what is now the Kumon Maths Programme for his son. The Kumon programmes now develop English skills as well as maths, and are constantly evolving, learning from students and instructors, to make them as effective as possible. Kumon students complete daily Kumon study at home and attend their study centre twice a week.

The franchisee's study centre opens for class typically two to six days per week; outside of class, the business owner's time must be flexible to the needs of their business. As the business grows they may need to extend class times and add extra days at the centre.

The franchisee, or Instructor, will be at the study centre when classes are given and will manage a team of assistants, as well as promote the Kumon centre to generate enrolment and raise awareness.

Initial training consists of 2 weeks focused on building skills and ability regarding the Kumon Method as well as providing the basics to run an efficient and effective study centre. Training will then continue following the opening of the centre for the first year with a mixture of training sessions, centre visits and worksheet study, in which the franchisee will gain a deeper understanding of the Kumon Method.
When joining, a local Area Manager will work with the franchisee to get their study centre up and running and then during the franchise term.
