Description: What began as a way for Toru Kumon of home-schooling his son in maths, developed into a school that met a student's individual needs and tutored them in that way. The concept began in 1954 and proved so successful, that in 1958 the first franchise opened. Today, there are 26,200 franchises of the school all over the world. The method is now available in 46 countries and regions with 4.23 million subject enrolments (as of March 2009). The Kumon Method has remained consistent for over fifty years and has been accepted in many countries despite differences in lifestyle, educational systems, and culture. It is our dream to contribute to world peace through education.
