The first Hampton Inn opened in Memphis, Tennessee in 1984. It became the first mid-price hotel chain to offer continental breakfast for free as well as allowing local phone calls free of charge. In 1995, the company introduced Hampton Inn and Suites, which was a huge success for the company. They were two hotel rooms with living and kitchen areas.
By 1999, Hampton Inn had joined Hilton Worldwide, a company that has over 90 countries operating all over the world.
