Already knowing a great deal about the franchise industry, Graeme nonetheless researched many opportunities before joining the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® family. Everything from oven cleaning to dog walking was considered before Graeme made his decision - and he was instantly excited by the revenue potential and support structure offered by the business. "
I just got it I suppose," says Graeme. "I looked on various websites about removals and there was a lot of competition which suggested a strong market. I even asked for removal quotes from existing firms - and out of five I approached only one got back in touch. That said to me either the competition was no good which would be fine, or they had so much work on they couldn't take every job, which again seemed like a good thing for me!"
Taking his research a step further, Graeme was impressed the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® team wanted to give him a thorough overview of the company's history and revenue model before even talking about his investment. They were also keen to make sure he'd done his due diligence properly before taking the process forward.
Faced with a great opportunity in the form of the Newcastle territory near his home, Graeme presented his business plan to the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® board in Dublin. "They really challenged my figures and my business understanding," says Graeme. "That meant I felt confident my plan would stand up as a working document and that the people I would be working with wanted me to succeed in the long term."
With his proposal a success, Graeme started his franchise with two trucks, aided by another driver and his partner Karen. Fast forward just a few weeks and they've already had over 60 leads - coming from a variety of sources such as Google adverts, word of mouth and phone enquiries from their new website.
"We're getting bookings on a regular basis,' says Graeme. "Thanks to the work of the marketing team the brand really stands out - and it's been no problem so far getting in front of prospects to quote and win business. We don't try to be the cheapest but we do try to provide a great service. I've also tried to be very selective with the people I've brought in, as I want them to buy into my work ethos and take pride in looking after our customers. So far they're helping me to deliver on our promises."
With his eye on the Sunderland territory already, Graeme aims to make a success of his Newcastle business then make a move for the second location in twelve months. So despite a love of holidays in the sun, Graeme's mind is firmly focused on his exciting new venture for now.
"I have an apartment near Marbella I like to get to when I can," Graeme concludes, “for now, business comes first, we’ll enjoy the apartment again soon!”
