Chris has been hairdressing for over 20 years and at some point always wanted to have his own salon. Now he is the International Colour Director for Rush and Rush franchisee since 2009.
How did you start your career?
I have always been in hairdressing and when I came to Rush I joined as an Artistic Director and have been heavily involved with the Rush education and training academies. I wanted to progress in my career and have always wanted to have my own salon, so opening a franchise with Rush seemed like the right step for me.
Why did you choose to franchise with Rush?
I had the choice of opening my own independent salon or a Rush franchise salon. I looked at both options, but already being heavily involved with the Rush brand I could see the benefits the brand gives you – training support, marketing support, a really strong name that drives clients into my salon. Whereas going independently it could’ve taken me years to build that up. With Rush, I had everything straight away.
What support did Rush give you?
When it came to opening my salon, I didn’t know much about business plans and loans, but the Rush team took me through it step by step. They found the location for my salon, fitted it, recruited and trained my team so there has been no stress and it was made it so much easier for me.
What has been your biggest achievement since becoming a Rush franchisee?
It would have to be winning British Hair Colourist of the year and the ongoing success and development of my own salon. It’s great to see the career progression of my team, I have some of my original team of stylists still working with me that have become senior stylists and consultants over the years through the growth and success of the salon.
