This month former military chef Des Rennell celebrates his first year in business as owner of Nottingham-based Recognition Express.

Before setting up his own business, Des worked for over 20 years within the food industry. His passion for cooking took him into the military as a chef and he was stationed in Germany during the first Gulf War for three years. He has worked all over the UK, including sales representative for Best Foods and national account manger with bakery manufacturer Delifrance. 

Des said: “It has been a challenging year and a journey of discovery, but a rewarding one. It is always great when your clients turn round and say how happy they are with the work you have done for them.”

“One thing I have come to realise throughout my career is how important brand awareness and actually communicating with your customers really is, and how having good sales and promotional tools really can you put your business on the map. That’s why I decided to set up my own Recognition Express.”
