etyres HomeMark Pearce launched etyres Kingston in March 2008 and has been serving Kingston and the surrounding areas ever since. Now in his fifth year of operation Mark has demonstrated how the etyres business model is recession proof. Having thrived and prospered throughout recessionary times and frequently maintaining a high position on company sales charts Mark is in a great position to further expand his business.

After just six months of operation Mark was finding the business model to be such a successful one that he added an additional half-territory and a second van to help him meet the demand. Mark is showing no signs of slowing down in the future with plans to add further vans to his territory. etyres actively encourage Franchise Owners to further develop their business and offer support and advice with everything from hiring the right team to effectively marketing within the local area.

Having heard of etyres and having previously run another franchise Mark knew the benefits that come with being part of an established brand and having the back up of a Head Office team. However, before contacting etyres Mark took the time to make sure it was the correct choice for him and researched alternative career opportunities both within franchising and working for someone else. etyres provision of a fully liveried van that enables fitters to fit tyres and balance wheels at a location convenient to the customer combined with an exclusive territory and guaranteed sales confirmed that becoming a member of the etyres family was right for him. “I’d always planned to run my own business again, and I liked the idea of not paying the high overheads associated with running a depot based business” confirms Mark.

One of the key selling points that lead Mark to buying an etyres franchise was the idea of guaranteed sales. The etyres national sales team operates seven days-a-week delivering sales to Franchise Owners, advising customers on the correct tyres for their vehicle and ordering tyres for Franchise Owners. This combined with online and locally generated sales mean that Franchise Owners can hit the ground running.

“etyres provided a strong foundation from which I could really develop my business.” Since day one Mark has understood the importance of and invested in local marketing activities, including territory specific Google AdWords campaigns, giving leaflets to local companies, and recommend a friend schemes. Customer retention through high-quality service is at the top of Mark’s priority list “most jobs now tend to be repeat customers, or people who have been referred to us from existing customers”. Many of these long standing relationships were built as a result of Mark’s presence at shows and networking events.

Due to demand Mark currently spends 80% of his time out on the van, however the plans to hire additional fitters to his team will allow him to spend less time fitting tyres and focus more on marketing and business development activities.

When asked about a standout job or moment over the past five years Mark was torn between a job carried out at Top Gear’s office at the BBC and “the happy customers we help out every day who continue to use us again and again and recommend us to their family, friends and colleagues.”
