Ian turned his dream of a ‘better’ life into reality
Ian has a background in the commercial cleaning industry. He dreamed of one day being his own boss and running his own business. He came across the Betterclean Services brand regularly whilst in his previous employment, so he was already familiar with the company. When he heard about their management franchise opportunity, he was keen to find out more.
“I was initially attracted to Bettercleans professional approach and highly successful, proven business model. I had met and worked with some of the guys from Betterclean, and was really impressed with how smart and professionally presented they always looked. I knew that Betterclean Services were a successful business and I liked the brand, so I never had any concerns about taking on the Plymouth territory,” explains Ian.
After four years in his previous employment, Ian felt that the time was right to look for a future with better prospects. He made the move and proved he had the confidence to start his own business, but quickly realised he would be able to move forwards far more quickly with an established brand and proven business management system behind him.
Ian felt that Betterclean Services were very professional and well organised. Having worked in Plymouth previously he knew it was a large area to cover, full of promising prospects! This only encouraged his decision further.
Ian lives in Newton Abbots with his wife and his two step sons, about a 30 minute drive from his newly secured territory in Plymouth. Although he has lived in Newton Abbots for 14 years he is in the process of relocating to be closer to his business and customer base.
Ian’s aim to have two mobiles up and running in his first two years is very realistic if he follows Dan’s proven systems. He is looking forward to growing his business, and has opted to be more hands on in the earlier stages of development rather than employ a supervisor from the outset.
“I decided to take on a franchise rather than grow my own business because there is so much competition out there; it made more sense to have a large reputable brand behind me. Really do your homework and pick your spot well, know the location you want to work in. I think it is also important to talk to people who have been where you are and get the support you need. Networking sites are an excellent way of meeting other franchise owners and are full of useful information. Having done it myself, I can’t see why you wouldn’t go for Betterclean Services though. With the economy the way it is, this opportunity has been a God send for me!”
