Nigel is a leading expert in franchising and was Chairman of the British Franchise Association two years running from 2006.
He was originally appointed a University Fellow in 2006 and has now agreed to stay in post until 2012.
In 2005 Nigel began mentoring small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) taking part in the Leading Enterprise and Development (LEAD) programme.

Throughout his career, entrepreneurial spirit has been Nigel’s trademark. He joined Recognition Express in January 2003 and was the driving force behind its rapid expansion. Before that, he was responsible for the merger of Prontaprint and Kall Kwik.
“I am honoured to be given this prestigious teaching fellowship for a further three years,” he said. “I remain passionate about investing in the future of franchising and feel that my involvement in Lancaster University and the LEAD programme goes some way to help fledgling business people realise their dreams.
“I look forward to continuing my work with the Institute and helping students in any way I can.”
