FASTSIGNS Watford waves the banner for Pepper Magic

July 2, 2009

Dick Northcote, owner of signage and graphics business FASTSIGNS® Watford, has been a supporter of the Pepper rock concert for 15 years. So, when the organisers needed some banners for this year’s Pepper Magic concert, he was more than willing to help.

Pepper is celebrating its 21st anniversary from 17-25 July. Dozens of local musicians and performers will give their all at Berkhamsted School to raise money for the Pepper Foundation which funds nurses for terminally ill children. Dick and his wife Carolyn got involved after they moved to Berkhamsted in 1994. “We went to a Pepper Rock show and had a fantastic evening. I got talking to the organisers afterwards, who said they needed some signs, and that’s how we got started,” said Dick.

This year FASTSIGNS,  based in St Albans Road, Watford, is producing 10 banners and a dozen posters for the event which is run entirely by volunteers and last year raised £45,000.

“It’s great to be supporting such a worthy cause which is so close to home,” said Dick. “Terminally ill children get very little help from elsewhere.”

His involvement went further when his rock band Replay played a gig in the Pepper marquee, three years ago.

“My stepdaughter Annabel also appeared as the back end of Henry the Horse when she was 10 years old. She’s never lived it down.” he said.

The former fighter pilot took on FASTSIGNS  Watford 15 years ago.

Patron of the Pepper Foundation, Dennis Fairey, was grateful for his help. “The Foundation needs £300,000 a year to keep going and we couldn’t do it without our 350 volunteers and support from schools and businesses.

“As a designer I am extremely impressed by the quality afforded by FASTSIGNS, who clearly recognised the importance of reproducing our logo in a very precise way. They also kindly produced our banners and posters at cost and that’s very well received.”
