SARA initially approached Kathryn for her pet sitting services, to board Jack for 48 hours due to a family wedding in September. SARA were already trying to rehome him for the previous owners at this stage, so agreed to help them find pet care.
After the weekend board, Kathryn was on holiday and was contacted by SARA to say that Jack had been put into their kennels and was struggling; not eating properly and was very depressed. Kathryn was heartbroken and immediately offered to foster him and help find Jack a new home.
Just by chance, Kathryn was out walking the dogs a few weeks ago when she started calling 'Jack'. A lady approached her who had recognised him and she couldn't believe he was looking for a home. The lady also fosters dogs for SARA and said she had a few ideas and would contact SARA if she could think of anything definite. Three weeks passed and Kathryn thought this new lead had gone cold until she received a call from SARA saying they had a couple interested in re-homing Jack.
John and Lena, who have had borders collies for many years, had a trial week with Jack last week and fell in love almost immediately!
Lena says, "Jack is very happy, he has settled down and made his self at home! We will take great care of him. We all love him."
Kathryn says, "When we initially fostered him he was not in great shape. He was underweight, completely shaved, had fleas and hadn't had his booster inoculations. We were told he pulled on the lead and didn't behave on walks. He was dropped off with nothing despite being a family pet for 9 years - no bed, toys, lead, collar etc. He had been with us for about 5 months and with the continued support from SARA, Jack has left us a healthy, happy dog with a glossy coat. He is now brilliant on walks, with other dogs and has an excellent recall.
"It was very sad to say goodbye but I am delighted that he has gone to a loving new home. I really hope it all works."
