“I am used to managing call routes and have been self employed before,” confirms Nicola Yates, Card Connection franchisee for Buxton and Macclesfield. “Owning my own business will now provide me with the excitement and challenge of running my own commercial operation combined with the flexibility to fit around my family commitments.
“As a field representative, I first noticed Card Connection’s greeting cards and products when I was out on the road,” continues Yates. “I was impressed with the quality and wide range of merchandise and my research showed Card Connection was an established company with an excellent reputation in the sector. Further, the company’s connection with UK Greetings Limited (UKG), the British subsidiary of American Greetings Inc AG, the world’s largest publicly owned greeting card company now means the company is the largest direct to retail greeting card publisher in the UK and I know these kinds of credentials are important to retail customers and national accounts.
“The Card Connection head office staff have been very supportive and have helped me to ensure my business is off to a great start,” explains Yates. “My goals are to improve the sales within individual stores and with important dates like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day coming up I am already looking forward to a profitable year ahead!”
Card Connection has limited vacancies for franchisees who are keen to run an expanding business. Successful candidates would ideally have some management experience as, once established, they would be expected to employ a small team, operate a warehouse and have several liveried vans on the road.
Because the franchise networks in the UK and Ireland are complete, the available opportunities now consist of acquiring an already-established territory from an existing franchisee. These vary in price according to their level of development, but start at £20,000 (+ stock) with earnings potential in excess of £50,000 per annum.
