Located at 58 St John’s Hill in a Grade II listed former art deco cinema and close to Clapham Junction station, the new showroom is based over two floors totalling 2000 sq ft. Visitors to the store will see some of the best examples of Raft’s hugely popular furniture collection and extensive range of accessories.
At a time when many retailers are streamlining their operations, Raft is expanding due to popular demand. The company has carved out a loyal fan base of design lovers who appreciate the brand’s simple pared-back aesthetic and responsible approach to retailing thanks to the company’s strict policy on only selling FSC certified timbers, and an ethical approach to sourcing, which have both been instrumental in the success of the brand.
This year Raft took a monumental step of acquiring a London based factory, which has given the brand tighter levels of control, ensuring efficiency, quality control and improved lead times on bigger ticket items such as sofas – rivalling the biggest and most established brands.
Hero product lines in-store include an extensive range of sofas all handmade in London, the Tamara table, the glass teak root table, the stunning four-poster bed and the Havana Fabric armchair.
Raft’s distinctive style has proved hugely popular with homeowners as well as interior designers, who love pieces that have style and longevity. Raft prefers to let the wood sell itself by designing shapes that show off to best advantage the inherent and natural characteristics.
Mick Quinn, co-founder of Raft comments: “We are delighted to have secured a new shop in Clapham Junction, an area which has become a prime shopping destination in London. We believe that residents in South West will really love the Raft look. Combined with our ongoing national expansion strategy, Raft is growing at a time when many other retailers are struggling. What’s the secret of our success? That’s simple: People just love our look, the fact we are independent, and the quality of our products. Our business is a sustainable one, our products are built for longevity and our customers add to their collection season after season to build up a look that will last a lifetime.”
