September saw the group post record sales and record Franchisee profits. The average Cloudy2Clear Franchisee saw their sales grow by over 21% year on year and profitability rise by a similar percentage.

Group Marketing Director Martin Waite is quick to place the accolades squarely at their Franchisees doors. ‘We’ve worked really hard over the last couple of years to concentrate our Franchisees minds on what works, not what is necessarily sexy or the ‘latest thing’. Why are you in business? What did you come into this for? Is it to earn money or to rub your ego? Those are the sort of questions we’ve been asking. What this has meant is that we’ve become a lean, mean, profit machine and none of that would be possible if our Franchisees hadn’t taken the advice on board which we have offered. I’m thrilled to bits to see the sort of Net Profit our branches are now delivering for themselves. The truth is that it’s a combination of hard work, great customer service and a head office which wants them to succeed which is the bedrock of a great Franchise. In any Franchise the Franchisees profitability should be King and that’s what we have built here.’

Cloudy2Clear Franchisee Trevor Skidmore agrees. ‘As we’re in the glazing industry I often meet self-employed glaziers who will say ‘Why are you in a Franchise? Why give a small percentage of your turnover to your Head Office when you can do it yourself? My answer is always the same, I play golf on a Friday afternoon whilst my lads are bringing home the bacon, can you afford to do that?

Without the support of my Franchise I would never have got anywhere near the stage I’m at now and the people who question me are a million miles away from it. Both my sons work in the business and next year I’ll be looking to take on a second branch. I’ve achieved all this at the height of the worst recession in living memory whilst I’ve seen competitors come and go, and they all have the same slack attitude. Franchising a waste of money? I don’t think so. All I did was take on board what I was told and implement it. That’s not so difficult, is it?’

It doesn’t stop here though as Martin explains, ‘We’re about to expand our national advertising which will bring more FREE business to our Franchisees AND take on a new Operations Manager in October. His job is solely to protect our Fanchisees profitability through efficiencies achieved by best practice across the group. This will bring further profits to all our Franchisees as he will be giving them advice on how to work efficiently that will increase their profits and not cost them a penny…’

In that case the future is looking very bright indeed for Cloudy2Clear…
