Born in 1933, Peter started boxing at the age of 15 and has been keeping fit and in shape every day for the past 61 years. He is now a full time member of his local énergie Fit4less club and wants to encourage people, young and old, to get into shape.
Having served his country, Peter boxed for his Battalion until 1952 and then took up athletics, which he continued to take part in until the age of 60 and won several medals as a Veteran Athlete.
He now focuses on free weights, which has been part of his life for 58 years and in 2008 took part in a Powerlifting competition, which he came first in. Lifting weights in excess of 85kg, Peter has become an easily recognisable and hugely inspirational figure for everyone at Fit4less.
General manager, Ben Palmer said: “Peter is a true testament to fitness and living a full and healthy lifestyle. For his age he is in great shape and you can easily see that this has a positive impact on his well-being and everyday lifestyle.”
The introduction of énergie Fit4less is also welcome news to Peter as it means his previous membership is almost half the cost at £16.99.
Peter said: “I was told the gym was changing hands and decided to wait and see what the changes would bring but I need not have been concerned. The new free weights area is perfect for me plus the friendliness of staff and the friends I have made are an added bonus.”
The no contract and ‘no frills’ club is the first of a chain of budget-style gyms being launched by the énergie Group, which currently operates 80 franchises across the UK, Ireland and Middle East.
