The centre in Winton, which has seen over 3,700 customers come through its doors, started off with 2 full-time seamstresses and now has four seamstresses with plans to take on a fifth before the end of the year.
To celebrate its success the ZipYard has promised to reward it’s 4000th customer with a month of free alterations.
Kevin said: “We’re so busy and have a lot of repeat customers including local celebrities! We think there is enough demand for another centre on the other side of Bournemouth or in nearby Poole so we’re looking for premises at the moment.”
Continued Kevin: “In this day and age most people don’t have the time or skills to do their own clothes alterations. Now people can bring their new or old garments to us and we’ll make them fit right.”
The ZipYard offers a wide range of cost-effective alteration and tailoring services, all done on site by trained professionals in a clean, purpose-built environment. From dress re-styling and taking in or letting out to bridal-wear fitting or formal wear alterations. There is also a 1-hour express service for zips, hems and minor repairs.
Michelle Wylie, Manageress said: “Our customers are lovely and we get all kinds of different work to do. During the Olympics we were putting union jacks on items of clothing including covering a bra with the flag! We’ve fitted numerous prom dresses, bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses and helped out with some last minute problems with grooms’ suits. We repaired a broken zip and mended some split trousers while they waited to make sure they got to the church on time!”
