Ella-Grace Honeyman was diagnosed with the rare and life-threatening brain condition Vein of Galen Malformation (VGAM) just 4 days before her first birthday in June 2008. That same month the Life for Ella-Grace Fund was founded by friends of the Honeyman family who were anxious to help and support the family by raising funds for her life-saving treatment.
Duncan will visit St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, (where Ella-Grace is a pupil) on Tuesday 3rd June from 1pm-3:30pm. The gold medallist will host an inspirational assembly for Ella-Grace and her school friends, teachers, parents and family who are all helping to raise £20,000 for the procedure to take place on Wednesday 23rd July.
To support the fundraising effort Duncan will be launching The Golden Mile, a physical activity initiative used by thousands of primary school children. Its aim is to increase children’s physical activity levels, general well-being, confidence and raise essential funds for worthwhile causes. In this case the project is being launched to raise funds for Ella-Grace to make sure that she gets the treatment she needs.
