Bluebird Care invests in key staff as business grows
December 1, 2009
The UK’s fastest growing care-at-home provider Bluebird Care has boosted its senior management team by appointing five key staff from dynamic career backgrounds including the military, caring and banking.
A former “Para”, two care professionals and a banker make up some of the new additions to the company’s head office team based in Charles Street, Petersfield.
The additional staff are part of Bluebird Care’s drive to continue its sustained growth. The company recently announced it has retained its position as the UK’s fastest growing provider of care at home with a group turnover of around £12 million.
Bluebird Care managing director Paul Tarsey said: “We are delighted over the past few months to have recruited such an excellent team to complement our existing staff. With the new structure now in place we can move forward into next year with renewed optimism and vigour.”
Bluebird Care’s senior business development manager Trevor Holloway previously spent 22 years in banking. However, seeing the impending collapse of HBOS he opted for a personal change of direction.
He identified two massive growth areas; franchising in the care-at-home market and mining for gold! The former option won and Trevor was appointed. His role encompasses maximising the growth of Bluebird Care’s ever-expanding network of offices across the UK, Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Trevor said: “My team and I are focused on driving Bluebird Care towards becoming the foremost brand in the care-in-the-home market.”
Also recruited to Trevor’s team is caring professional Julie Gambrill, who started working with young adults with learning disabilities in 1996 before a spell at the Leonard Cheshire Foundation working with people who are terminally ill. She then moved into the world of home care, working for two different companies where she moved up the ranks to a management position. Her new role as Bluebird Care’s business development manager involves Julie helping new franchise owners in the start-up phase of their business.
Former Parachute Regiment soldier Scott Browning is new operations manager. With a successful business career spanning many years and recent background in operational line management across Europe, Scott aims to work alongside the company’s 62 offices nationwide, offering support and encouraging growth potential.
Offering a diverse range of skills, new care manager Julia Bergin started her working life as a carer before moving into a successful career in care management. She is responsible for recruiting, training and developing the company’s Petersfield carers and office staff.
Julia said: “My aspirations are to continue to develop my own skills as a manager and to provide an effective and successful contribution to the growth of the services offered by Bluebird Care.”
New franchise recruitment manager Annetta Doyle has 15 years’ franchising experience, within a variety of sectors. Her main role involves helping new franchise owners come on board and to support both them, and existing franchisees, to develop their sales, marketing, recruitment and training skills.
Annetta said: "I was delighted to get the opportunity to work with an organisation as reputable as Bluebird Care and I am looking forward to helping grow the network of offices and to enable more franchise owners to take up this great opportunity."
The company is on target to recruit 25 franchise owners in the UK and a further eight in the Republic of Ireland during 2009. In November 2008 there were 41 offices, which has risen to 63 this month - a 54 per cent growth in network size.
GREAT! WHAT'S MY NEXT STEP?
