Tell us about yourself...
I have an eclectic background from boxing (being at one point the only licensed female boxing manager) to the board room. I’m passionate about business, books and Whitstable; if I can combine all three, then I’m in Nirvana!

I set up Smarta to level the playing field; to enable everyone, no matter your background or geographical location access to the best tools and resources to run your business. I’m also pretty proud of the fact that I wrote a bestselling business book “Stop Talking, Start Doing” which was WHSmith’s #1 Bestselling business book for 14 months in a row. I even beat Branson, not often you can say that!

What do you love most about your job?
Meeting people who inspire me to step out of my own comfort zone. It's easy to get comfortable, but you don’t grow. I like growing, I like a challenge. I love the fact that every month we get to help thousands of people; whether that’s online at, our workshops or through providing Smarta StartUpLoans and helping them fund their new venture. It's nice to do something that counts.

Who is your hero?
My Nan – she is my biggest fan and my inspiration.

What’s next?
Helping as many businesses and entrepreneurs succeed as possible. At Smarta we have been working on finding as many ways as we can to help businesses grow. We have just launched Smarta Business School, our online business training platform. Oh and I have a new book on it’s way, but that’s not til next year.
