The British Franchise Association (bfa) is shining the spotlight on the finest franchisors in the country as the oldest and most prestigious awards in franchising are now...open for entries! The bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Awards, supported by Express Newspapers, are back for a 26th year to recognise the best in the business for their exceptional franchising practices.
Last year Autosmart took home two awards, including top honours as Franchisor of the Year. The Emerging Franchisor of the Year was care company Right at Home, whose award helped them achieve significant growth in the following 12 months. Managing director, Ken Deary, said of the win: “Receiving recognition for our hard work and success over the past four years was fantastic. We weren’t sure whether we were ready to enter such established awards. I’m glad we did; being profiled so prominently in the media gave us a substantial spike in franchisee interest and enquiries which is always a positive thing!”
The awards are positioned to showcase the diversity and excellence found in the franchise sector, encouraging businesses of all sizes and sectors to demonstrate their achievements. There are five categories in 2015:
1. bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year
The top award any UK franchisor can attain, highlighting a drive and determination to focus on the highest ethical standards and support, with evidence of an engaged and productive network in which franchisees can maximise their businesses. The top three finalists will once again be recognised in 2015.
2. Emerging Franchisor of the Year
Showcasing up-and-coming brands that have given themselves a platform to become the stars of the future, this category is for businesses that began franchising within the last five years. They’ll stand out for their preparation, support and evidence of franchisee growth, both in numbers and revenues.
3. Award for Innovation
This award is for those businesses that have used innovative changes to strengthen their business and their network. The winner might have developed brilliant new strategies, adopted new technologies, or fundamentally adapted their core model.
4. Franchisee Recruitment Award
This category examines the critical functions of bringing newcomers into the network, seeking the highest standards of lead generation, qualification and selection of new franchisees.
5. Award for Customer Focus
New for 2015, this is an award for franchisors with a demonstrable focus on customer service – perhaps an analysis of a customer base and trends, targeting new markets, involving franchisees in brand positioning, or how its customer care has impacted on franchisees’ businesses.
Pip Wilkins, bfa Head of Operations, said: “We work hard to ensure that our awards correctly recognise the ethical standards found throughout the bfa franchisor community. After an exceptional number of high-quality entries last year, and following feedback from shortlisted businesses, I’m pleased to announce the return of the Gold, Silver and Bronze accolades within the main bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Award. This will properly reflect the breadth of quality demonstrated by entrants.”
Finalists will be named in mid-April, with winners honoured on 25 June at a black-tie dinner at the ICC, Birmingham.
