Franchise Focus Business News…

Last week, Franchise Direct’s UK team attended the Franchise Show in Excel, London. As we previously blogged, a lot of the franchises featured on our site were in attendance at the show and our team really enjoyed the chance to “put a face to the name” and met a significant number of franchisors face to face.

Brian Rogan, our Sales Manager, commented that the show was very busy and successful in that “a lot of people were approaching our stand and had clear ideas of what kind of franchise they would be interested in - this is great because our site can help those people find a variety of franchise opportunities to suit what they are looking for”. There is a lot of choice in the franchise industry nowadays and with franchise in attendance from such diverse industries as home services franchises to business consultancy franchises - there is something to suit everyone.

The British & International Franchise Exhibition, endorsed by the British Franchise Association (bfa), will bring a vast range of new career opportunities to Olympia, London on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 March 2010.

The extensive conference programme, with keynotes speakers including Toni Mascolo,co-founder of Toni & Guy hair salons and Brian Mullens of McDonalds, will cover the key franchise-related topics including couples in franchising, high level investment franchising; franchise resales; management in franchising, hands-on franchising, women in franchising, franchising your business and Growing Your Own Business. The International Conference, sponsored by the UKTI, will discuss both how to launch a franchise in the UK and how to take a UK based franchise overseas. The bfa will also address the key issues of trends, benefits and challenges associated with franchising.

Well, that was something, wasn’t it? The 50th IFA Convention in San Antonio, Texas is over, and what an event it was. The entire franchising community was present to meet, network and discuss all of the relevant issues that will dominate franchising over the next year. George W. Bush was on hand to give the keynote address and, of course, Franchise Direct was there every step of the way.

Today, we’re providing you with a direct glimpse of the convention itself. We’re collated some images from the event. Here is a view of the Convention floor. Nearly 1100 franchise companies were in San Antonio, plus 10,000 franchisees and more than 500 firms that cater to the industry.
