What is IDL?

IDL – Indirect Dyslexia Learning – is a specialist literacy program for dyslexia.

A ‘dyslexia-friendly’, multisensory approach with structured, cumulative learning: IDL is simple to use but highly effective.

Using sight, sound, touch and voice, IDL provides totally accessible, stress-free learning.

Many adults and children with dyslexia have struggled through the education system without effective support. Non-specialist teaching methods often result in learning not being retained. As a result, their reading and spelling levels are far lower than they should be.

Who are CENTRA Education & Training?

CENTRA has been around since 1839, as a not for profit charitable organisation, supporting educational projects – especially those addressing disadvantage.

We’re based in Chorley, Lancashire and run our Franchise training sessions here.

CENTRA uses IDL to provide dyslexia support in various ways:

Franchise IDL Centres across the UK, Europe and Australia

CENTRA Dyslexia Centre in Leyland, Lancashire

A dyslexia project, funded by the Big Lottery Reaching Communitiesfund, across the North West areas of Blackpool, Preston and SouthRibble – schools and community venues in these areas provide IDL support.

Who are we looking for?

You don’t need to have any specific qualifications to become a CENTRA IDL Franchise holder.

We look for people with experience of support, teaching or similar and with a sympathetic approach.

Experience with different learning needs is an advantage.

Our full day’s training includes Dyslexia Awareness information as well as IDL training and advice on setting up your IDL Centre.
