Franchise opportunity to manage your own company in the commercial and domestic drainage industry.
Metro Rod is an established franchise opportunity in the rapidly growing drainage industry. Established in 1983, it is one of the country's leading pipe and drain cleaning specialists, offering a range of services to the industrial, commercial and domestic markets.
Operating nationally through its network of franchisees, each with their own territory, Metro Rod has built an enviable reputation for outstanding customer service. In order to maintain this successful network we are looking for new franchisees to ensure the Metro Rod brand develops further and enjoys continued success in the years ahead. Metro Rod is a full member of the British Franchise Association.
As a franchisee your company can offer an emergency response service (24 hours a day, seven days a week) and routine works through planned maintenance agreements. Metro Rod’s service engineers are fully equipped with high pressure water-jetting units which can tackle the toughest of challenges.
As well as providing a complete pipe service we have developed specialist services such as drain and pipe lining in small bore pipework. Our service engineers are also equipped to carry out closed circuit television surveys of all pipework. This equipment is used to locate structural defects which may lead to recurring or serious drainage problems.
Training and support
At Metro Rod we offer a complete training and support package including a unique five-week training programme. We will work with you to produce a three-year business plan, which will form the foundation of a successful business venture.
On-going support is then provided throughout the life of your franchise, helping you to advance your technical and sales skills, allowing you to develop your territory to the full. A ready-made commercial customer base is provided by our Key Accounts Sales Team - this will provide a significant proportion of your annual turnover (on current averages). We provide high standards of Central Office support, including on-going marketing activity, free credit management services and the backup of a national call centre.
Why join Metro Rod?
There are, we believe, some key elements of our Franchise package that make us stand out and that make our franchise package one of the best in the industry.
Health and Safety Standards - Customers benefit from the knowledge that the standard of our work is second to none. In an industry where there are many small independent companies our customers know they can rely on the standards that we set.- Established National Contracts - Franchisees benefit from the Key Accounts that have been set up. There is an ongoing programme to develop a large portfolio of national commercial clients.
- Central Credit Control - One of the biggest problems facing businesses today is poor cash flow caused by slow payers. We provide our Franchisees with a centralised billing and cash collection service. It ensures that they get paid for invoiced work within an agreed timescale even if we haven't been paid ourselves.
- We Listen - Our Franchisees are regarded as partners within the business and we hold regular meetings and carry out surveys with them to ensure that the services we provide them with are those that they need to enable them to achieve the best possible results.
What qualities do I need to become a Metro Rod franchisee?

You must have the desire to succeed. Ideally, you will have had experience in managing people, and be financially astute. You will also need good inter-personal skills and sales & marketing ability. In the short term it is usual that you will not only run the business, but also operate it as a service engineer. However, in order to optimise your area, it is important that you later assume a managerial role, employing others to carry-out this role. This will allow you to concentrate on growing your business.
It is usual to begin operating your business from home, although some of our more mature franchisees have moved into small industrial premises. Being a Metro Rod franchisee is a demanding job, so it is essential that you are physically fit and that you have the support of your family/friends.
