About Us
The history behind Kip McGrath… The founders of the Company, Kip and Dugnija McGrath, opened their first Kip McGrath Education Centre in 1974 with the founding principle; “any child can learn if they are taught properly”. Within a very short space of time the McGraths opened six centres in the Hunter Valley, Australia and ran those centres successfully for ten years before choosing franchising as the means of expanding beyond their regional constraints to grow the business.
Kip McGrath has since become a leader in the after school tuition market in countries such as Australia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Singapore and New Zealand. An internationally trusted name in the field of supplementary education, Kip McGrath Education Centres (KMEC) now has almost 650 franchises in 20 countries around the world.

The Franchise Package
KMEC franchisees are not on their own in many important ways. When joining this business, you become part of a global ‘Kip McGrath Family’. For this you will receive:
- 5 day training course for up to 2 people, comprising comprehensive coverage of all aspects of running a KMEC Centre e.g. Introduction to KMEC methods and familiarisation of the resources, how to recruit students through advertising, how to conduct an assessment and ensure high conversion rates, looking for premises, employing teachers, etc etc
- KMEC Furniture pack
- KMEC posters
- KMEC wall hangers for display of materials
- Advanced Marketer Pack; A comprehensive manual for reference to marketing methods and supplementary products.
- Material packs; All KMEC resources including work books and software for computer programmes.
- Marketing cash-back of £3,000; This is for a year 1 marketing campaign to be devised and agreed between the new franchisee and the regional master.
Financial Information
Franchise Fee: £22,995
Kip McGrath work closely with NatWest, The Royal Bank of Scotland and HSBC, who have all given KMEC accreditation. We are happy to put you in touch with one of these banks to secure financing (subject to status).
Training and Support
Ongoing support and guidance is provided by the Regional Master Franchisee who can provide refresher training on any aspect of the operation as necessary. The master will also make a minimum of 1 centre visit per year and organise a minimum of 2 regional meetings where all franchisees get together to discuss opportunities and issues of concern to them. The Master is contactable by phone and email at any time and has a key role in helping all franchisees to meet their goals.
Further to this there are International, National and Regional Newsletters to keep franchisees informed of developments etc and a national KMEC conference held annually.
